i need some help.............
« on: April 15, 2007, 02:15:27 PM »
if its not one thing its another....

so, i finally got a new computer the other day,my old one was 7 years old and didnt even have usb ports on it (yeah, i know).
my two recording units are hi-mds.so far all of my recordings were transferred analog>sony stand alone cd burner.so i finally installed the "sonicstage" software last night thinking i would be re-transferring all of my masters digitally in to the computer then be able to burn better cds.
heres the problem..
when i record shows i dont add track marks there, i would do it at home while doing the transfers to the cd burner, mostly because i didnt want to fuck up at the concert or just didnt want to add them to the master mds.so when i installed the sonic stage last night, i doiscovered that it doesnt really do anything other than manage your music files and let you do the md>computer transfers/burn cds.
the problem is that when i transfer the master to the computer, i cannot edit the "one track" into separate tracks, and 76 minutes of material is even too much to put on one 80 minute cd even by itself.(not to mention it would play as one track)
i really DO NOT want to have to go and put track marks on the master mds, just to be able to separate them prior to burning, and i really dont want to drop $500.00 for pro-tools(which is what i was told would work for editing)
so what the fuck do i do now.
any help would be greatly appreciated

open whole wavs in CDWave and save a cue sheet(the cue sheet tells cdwave where to put teh file markers) i save a cue sheet with all of my matser(untouched) wavs and this works like a charm.....when you want to burn one, just open the wav and load teh cue sheet.....

What Bean said.  Download CDWave, it is technically freeware, although you are requested to voluntarily purchase it after 30 days.  Allows you to easily split tracks, and save cue sheets for later use as well.  No need to invest in Pro Tools or any other expensive software.  It does the job, and ensures that you have no SBE issues.

Not true.  It's technically shareware, which means after the 31-day fully-functional trial period users are required to purchase a license (though the software is not crippleware or nag-ware, i.e. it doesn't cease to function or nag with messages/reminders constantly if one doesn't purchase a license).
