Convert to FLAC
« on: June 17, 2007, 01:50:21 PM »
I have taped shows using my Olypus 960 VPN.  I can convert them to .wav files and burn them to a CD to listen to.  I believe the original recordings are at 22,000kbps and I convert them to 44,000kbps.

Is it better for me to convert the original 22,000 kbps to FLAC or the 44,0000kbps?

What is a good, easy to use program that will not only allow me to convert to FLAC, but will also allow me to seperate the .wav files into seperate tracks?

Thanks,

Chris

you are looking for 2 difreetn programs.  OR at least I use 2 diffeetn programs to do this:
flac Frontend is what I use for conversion.
http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html

and PCwaveditor if you use PC is what most use:

music IS love

When you get confused, listen to the music play!

Is the FLAC dll included currrent to the exe which is 1.1.4??

NB - contacted the author of CD Wave editor and the current 1.1.4 dll will be included in the next release.  Adding it to the current CD Wave editor will not owrk, he says.  And I guess he knows.    8)

On PC I believe Traders Little Helper will do what you need.

On a MAC you can use Xact to handle your FLAC conversion... it will also create fingerprints, it's free and uses FLAC 1.1.3.

If you're planning to burn to CD or trade I'd convert to 44,100/16 first, then FLAC. Then your files can be burned directly to CDR with a CD Burning program that handles FLAC (like Toast 8 on MAC, and I think the latest Nero with a plugin on PC). Good luck!
