iPod+Tunetalk+?? (Newbie Question)
« on: July 15, 2007, 04:03:34 PM »
I've got a 5G 30GB iPod and am purchasing a TuneTalk.  I'm new to the taping thing, so I was wondering what sort of microphones I should buy (or build if someone wants to give me a detailed walkthrough).  I'll be going to a fairly large venue rock concert (at a minor league ballpark).  I'd need 2 mics right? And a splitter for the tunetalk mic jack?

Like I said, I'm completely new to the taping portion of this, so any and all help would be nice.

PS.  Limited budget here.. so if I can get away with under 50 bucks or so on the mics that'd be golden.

Thanks,
-Greg-

I think most people on this board would suggest not using an iPod to tape, especially a rock concert. You won't get very good sound quality.

If it's any consolation, it's only the Counting Crows... so not too terribly loud hard rock or anything... still a rock concert tho.

So maybe something uni-directional... so maybe something like https://emporium.olympus.com/innards/empProdDetails.asp?sku=145055-410
or http://www.keenzo.com/showproduct.asp?ID=872181

or is there some sort of alternative that would have two mics together with one plug?

Ugh... no and definite no on those links.

Look at the Church Audio - http://stores.ebay.ca/CHURCH-AUDIO

The STC-11 get good reviews, and they terminate into one plug....

You are gonna be hard-pressed to get a pair of mics for under $50, and don't use anything like that vocal mic in the second link

hehe, thanks... maybe I can see if I can con my buddy into splitting the cost 50/50 with me... otherwise I may just try to do it w/ the built in speakers and let myself suffer through the poor audio :P

my two sense'd be either go out and buy some nice stuff (such as the Chuch Audio mics mentioned before), or just wait... Counting Crows is always taped, I'd give it about a 99.99% probability that a recording will surface by someone who has invested in the gear.

The one I went to last year wasn't taped... and it seems that from my guesstimate that about 1/2 - 3/4 of their shows get taped... So I'd like to just for some insurance :P
