New h120 Internal battery help
« on: July 17, 2007, 11:39:43 AM »
I bought a new 2200mAh battery for my h120.....the only question is do the leads need to be reversed?  The article in the FAQ says if it is an ipod battery it does, although this auction says it is an OEM for the H1X0, H3X0 series.

The auction number is:  220127938549

Can someone tell me if I need to reverse, or just replace red with red, and black with black.

Thanks....

Why not just compare the battery leads to the one battery you know is right....  The one already installed.

Then there are no questions about it.

Check the faq at misticriver.net for a walkthrough with pictures.

If its oem for a 120 no swapping, if not you should just have to swap the position(red to black, black to red), just double check when you take the old battery out,its very easy, just lift the little tabs and they pull out and switch them, when you switch them they should lock into position again, really nothing to it.

That's what I was thinking...put red where red on the old battery ...ditto for black

From the auction:

H110, H120, H140, H320, H340, DA2WB18D2

    * Condition: Brand New
    * Manufacturer: CameronSino
    * Model: CSH110XL
    * Voltage: 3.7V
    * Capacity: 2200Mah
    * Chemistry: Lion
    * Physical Size: N/A
    * Compatibility: 100% OEM Compatible
    * Warranty: One Year Original Manufacturer Warranty

Now if the seller is correct and it is OEM.....then red to red....black to black

The CameronSino ones for h1x0/h3x0 are fine, no wire switching... but always compare before attaching - manufacturing faults are always possible ;)

I just installed the CameronSino battery in my H320 a few minutes ago.  I did not need to switch the leads.  It is charging right now and appears to be fine.

Oh no.  :(  It charged all night, the screen was on showing that it was charging.  However, the iRiver will not power up now.  I've tried the reset button but no luck.

See if it will power up while plugged into the charger.

If it does, it's either a dead battery, or the connection is loose.

I bet on the latter.... one of the wires not connected ok?

If you're opening up anyway, measure the battery voltage, it should be > 3,6V
My battery came 50% charged and so should yours, so it should boot without charging first

It works with the AC adapter. . .
I checked it out.  Wires looked secure to me.  I put the old battery back in and it worked fine.  Put the new one in again, won't work.   I just emailed licketysplit auctions.  I hope they can get me a replacement in time for an Aug. 12 show.  In the meantime, I'll dig out a voltage tester and check it out.

Edit:
Got an email response from lickeysplit in 2 minutes!

"Hello, My apologies for any inconvenience. I’ll have a replacement unit
shipped out to you immediately. Once the product has shipped, I’ll send you
an email outlining the shipping particulars. At that time we can arrange
return shipping of the problem product at my expense. Again, my apologies
for the inconvenience. Best regards

This is getting frustrating.
New battery came yesterday.  Model #CS-H110XL and the leads seem to be correct.  Still, this new battery will not take a charge.  When I plug it in to AC it says it's charging, but I found it will do that with no battery installed.  If I put my old battery back in, again it boots fine and charges fine (at least it says it's fully charged).  Surely I wasn't sent two bad batteries. . . or was I.  I couldn't test the battery with my meter because my probes were too big to make contact.  I guess I need to get some little wires to act as extension cables.

Nobody else has had trouble like this?  This really sucks because I need to use it in two days.

New batteries never ship uncharged, so after connecting the player should boot. If it doesn't, you have a bad contact or bad battery.
Measuring = knowing.....

Old battery: 3.88 V
New battery: 3.87 V

Apparently I have bad contact.  It seems to fit fine, though.  I don't get it.  :(

edit:
Success, I think.  Reinserted the leads after tightening them a bit.  Still didn't work until I hit the reset button a couple times.  I didn't see that mentioned in the directions but apparently it helped.

Hi, I'm about to buy a CameronSino 2200 mAh battery, and would like to know if you are happy with your battery now? Does full-charge last what you expected it to?
Is it exactly the same size as the original battery, dows it fit in the unit without problem?

Thank you.
