Korg MR-1: power source [was power plug]
« on: August 09, 2007, 09:59:55 AM »
I have a Kensington Universal 70w power adapter and would like to use it to recharge the battery of the MR-1. To do so I have to choose the right plug, but in kensington's website the choice is possible only by type of device, brand and model (for example: Mp3 player, apple, iPod video). Does anyone know what device has the same power specs and plug as the MR-1?

thank you very much in advance

after an extended Google session, I probably found out the solution. Dell's PDA axim X51 should have the same connector and power supply specs as the MR-1.
I wonder if anyone is able to perform a test with a Dell power supply. The outcome would be appreciated.

Meanwhile I found out that the HP iPAQ 2790 series' power supply is compatible with the MR-1. I hope this is helpful for somebody.

Updated information to anyone interested in a MR-1 single power source that works with international wall plugs, airplane plugs, car plugs.

The Kensington Universal 70w power adapter [http://us.kensington.com/html/10450.html] allows you to power notebooks, cell phones, pdas, iPods - and the MR-1 too - just changing its power tip. Different tips set automatically voltage and amperage according to the device.

As mentioned before, the issue is to find out what power tip works with the MR-1. Now I have the answer: the right one is the "P4", originally sold to power dell's Axim Pdas. I ordered one and everything is working nice.

Hope that will help someone...

Other devices with the same plug and voltage:
Creative Labs JB3
Sony PSP

Other devices with same plug and NOT SAME VOLTAGE (DO NOT USE A SONY D8/D7/M1/D100 PS or battery system with an MR-1 - it may work but could damage the MR-1):
Sony TCD-D7/8 (6 Volt)
Sony TCD-D100 and PCM-M1 (4.5 Volt)

Del Axim x50v and x51v also has the same plug and voltage. Handy!
