el cheapo voice recorders

A friend of mine is looking for a little recorder to capture audio from college lecture halls.

Suggestions??

cheapest alternative might be an Olympus voice recorder. There are ones that can tansfer via USB or ones ~ $25 that you can just playback. I have one and it works very well. You can even see the odd TV reporter use one

how cheap is your el cheapo range?
in a pinch you can get one of those generic MP3 players that have a voice recording feature.
Drag and drop to your PC via USB connection.
depending on memory size they are pretty pretty cheap.
I'm surprised the 1 gig version I bought records quite well, some also record from the FM radio.
