You will also need some RCA M>M adapters if you need to run XLR->Mini.

Sorry, correction on my post.  You need a connector to connect RCA Male to Male which would actually be Female>Female.  Sorry for any confusion.

radio shack gold seriers cables are the basically the same as monster cables as ratshack cables are sold to them branded monster, ive never had a problem with them and they are of good quality, kindcables are good too, or any other HQ source, but why pay more when the rca's and toslinks are just as good from ratshack, the xlr's though should be bought outside of ratshack

there's nothing wrong with buying RadioShack products in -most- cases.  as someone has pointed out that RS' Gold line is basically Monsters. i don't doubt that at all.

just because a product has "Monster Cable" on it doesn't mean it's any better than no-name brand or RS cables.  frankly, i think MC are crap for the price they charge.

audiophile grade cables run $100's per meter.  i have Audioquest, Transparent and TARA Labs interconnects/speaker wires for my home stereo, but wouldn't use it in the field.  IMO, that's overkill in what we do.  all we need are dependable products that perform their tasks show after show.

personally, i go to a local electronic's shop in Burbank, CA that caters to the multi-billion $ entertainment industry. they carry products like Neutrik, Mogami and Canare, and they have a very knowledgeable staff who can make just about any cable you can fathom.  i trust their products over Monster Crap any day!!

Who? Where?

Have any of you cut into a Radio Shack cable?

Pacific Radio in Burbank, CA

yes, i have cut into a RS cable.  i made a mini > rca Y cable and replaced the rca with xlrs.  currently working perfectly.
