ST-9100 with a Sony M1.... accurate levels?
« on: October 18, 2007, 03:17:25 PM »
Hello board:
Fast question
for loud rock pop levels

My second time taping with Church ST-9100

My setup
SP-CMC-8>ST-9100>M1

On the ST-9100 what would be the best knob point?
No green light (just before gets dim)?
slightly dim green light?
Green light=clipping  I know this one NO

For the M1 levels at 7-8 ?

Thanks!!

Ed  ::)

I have run this exact rig and there is no magic number although you want to try and get as much gain out of the pre as possible without clipping.  My version of 9100 has a red light to show clipping, so if I see that, I reduce from there.

I'm not certain what unity is on the M1. Can anyone chime in?

My Dave Mason in case anyone wants a sample of this rig:
