Topic: Clamping your mic stand

Hello

How do you secure your mike stand to your seat?  At the venue where I plan to tape,  I am told that mike stand footprint is too large for the aisle/row.  Would rather stay on the floor than move to the balcony to find a rail to clamp.  Thanks in advance.

exactly, bungees work like a charm. always keep a 1/2 dozen of various lengths in the bag.

you can sometimes get away with stuffing your stand between the seat and the seat back with the legs closed.

someone had recommended clamping on to the seat with this Manfrotto Super Clamp 2915 w/out stud $24 :



add this Bogen 2918 standard stud w/ European Threading at top $5.95



and mount this Bogen 3369 extension arm $38 that goes up to 92 inches

just in case you didn't realize, I would never use duct tape. I have however used gaffers tape and have also used a couple of climbing belts that cinch tight to a pole once. It worked like a charm.

Duct tape does work quite well, though. 

I love my superclamps. Of course the one show I really needed them this fall, because they wouldn't allow my stand, I forgot my extension arm.

That Bogen 3369 extension arm & a super clamp is worth it's weight in gold. Clamp to tables, chairs, ceilings, walls...you get the point.

Superclamp & HD Flex Arm works great for arm rest clamping. No need to bring a stand. If you need more height, get a different extension arm, like the one posted above.

just keep the feet/legs of the stand in the folded position, and tape or bungee the stand to the seats or armrests; if its a crazy stand up type of show just hold the stand vertically and don't secure it to the seat at all

How rigid is that flex arm? can you mount larger mics on it or do you just use an active or miniature setup? Also, is that 482LCD a swivel that allows it to rotate? Looks cool.

The flex arm will hold the 414's for at least 3 days without movement (a thread somewhere by someone has pics and info.)
