744t 2.34 firmware file issues with flac and dvd audiofile?

...i think.  my problem goes this way: updated firmware on 744 > recorded files @ 24/96 & 24/48 > audacity works with them as does cdwav and flac to the extent that it will encode with the "legacay file warning".. thing is i cannot get dvd audiofile to work with the flacs or the original files at all.  my routine has not changed, the firmware has -- so i'm guessing my problem is some kind of file header issue new to 2.34.

anyone with a quick and dirty work-around?  similar experience?

poly... as i had in the past.  one more thing: i've tried this with flac frontend, macflac, xact, and the dvd audiofile version for both apple and windows .. no dice, although xact was able to make flacs of the files, those resultant flacs failed in dvd audiofile (mac).

that may be your problem.  try recording in mono files.  alot of the audio programs dont read poly files.

they read them without a problem 2 weeks ago before i updated the firmware.

I hate to harp pn this, but have you called or written SD??  They would for sure like to know about your problem and quite possibly offer up a solution.  YMMV

it's sunday. if i don't get an answer here, they are my next call. and yes, they are nice and helpful, but this may be something dumb i'm doing unrelated to the firmware... dunno.

xact is 1.59 and i tried frontend 1.2.1 -- and after reading a thread you wrote; something on flac and the legacy file issue (got to searching because my foobar would not play these flacs -- "unsupported or corrupt"), i shitcanned that one and found an older version = 1.2.0 still the same problem -- won't work in dvd audiofile. but the problem here, and what's making me think it's the file itself is that even when i take the copied file from the 744 and and try to make an .iso from that (should still work, and has, even though dvd-audiofile likes flac), it flies through the process and leaves me with a 20 kb or so image.

i am able to decode those flacs and play/edit the wavs in foobar, audacity, cdwav.. just not in the dvd audio tool.

The new version of FLAC 1.2+ had some major updates. I had problems with them not playing etc, and it was the plugins I had. The old plugins will not play nicely with 24bit flac files. The new winamp has the updated flac plugin and all is well. I am not sure about foobar and if they have a newly supported flac plugin for 24bit files encoded with 1.2+. So, it appears that dvdaudiophile is not flac 1.2+ compatible?

this is what i'm thinking. i was able to generate an iso via xact 1.59 > dvd-audiofile with flacs i made of 2.34 wavs. neither win or mac dvd-audiofile will recognize these wavs.  i did get the win set-up to create an iso from frontend 1.2.0 flacs.. i think -- i did it and had to run, but wil try to write it later--the size of the iso looked right so i'm hopeful. i went back to 2.15 on the 744 and will see if i end up in the same place.

foobar v0.5.x and up will support the latest versio of 24 bit FLACs.  however, at this point, only a beta version is available.  but it works great for me .
