Another variable to consider is Chris Church's modification of the R-09's internal mics. I haven't had this done to mine, but I'm thinking about it. I'd be surprised if the resulting sound quality isn't very good.

Being a Church mod, I'm 100% sure the sound quality must be very good ;D. I'm also thinking about. The only thing that makes think more is that the final product does not look exactly awesome :-\. And I don't think the whole think could be reversed to it's original condition.
But this is pretty much a matter of personal taste ;). It's a nice option anyway.

Mics..........................SP-CMC-8, HLSC-1 and HLSO-MICRO
BB and Preamps........MM Micro bb / MM Custom Elite bb / Church 9100

Recorders...................Tascam DR-100MKIII, Marantz PMD 620 MKII, Edirol R-09

Thanks for the replies, looks like I'll be going AT943 (3w) > CA ST9100 v3 > R-09 soon, prepared for those loud rock shows :)

I ran this rig, only 2-wire, at many rock shows in 2007.  You'll get some very nice results with it, or at least I did.  I didn't end up using much gain from the ST-9100, so it acts more like a battery box at these loud shows.

Ah, thanks Belexes. I'm always worried about clipping/distortion, but you just gave me some relief. +T to you :)

You'll see the 4.7k mod in my sig, which has been debated endlessly on the board as to if that mod is needed.  I sometimes run the 853 caps, and all agree those will distort at high SPL's, so I have no regrets.  Have no fears about running your rig, especially with the 3-wire.
