Church Mic Case?
« on: February 03, 2008, 08:00:41 AM »
I am looking for a sturdy, compact case to house a pair of Church Audio mics, and I was hoping someone here might have a suggestion.  Currently, I am using a small neoprene case that a Western Digital hard drive came with, but it doesn't really afford that much protection.  Additionally, these mics are on loan from a friend, so I really want to make sure I don't damage them! :)

I was looking at a Pelican 1010 or 1020.  Anybody have any luck with one of these or some other case?

Thanks in advance for your trouble!

Actually..i was at gander mountain the other day and they had some kick ass handgun gun cases that would be perfect for mics and rigs. Should check it out.

I keep my AT853s, Church Audio preamp, and R09 all in a $3 plastic pencil box I picked up at the local drug store.  The preamp and R09 are velcroed to the bottom with a very short cable connecting them.  The mics fit snugly on top in a plastic bag.

I also dremmeled a little hole in the box so I can run the mics in with the box closed (I use a little extension cable that came with my iRiver that has a very small plug, allowing for a small hole).  This yields an almost waterproof, almost crush-proof case that can come in handy in crowded bar situations.

Moke and MSTaper:  Do you use some sort of lining?  If so, what?

Some excellent ideas!  Thanks!  +T's all around.

I use one of those plastic daily pill boxes that you get at the drug store....the ones that have S M T W T F S on the covers for 7 individual compartments.  I put my SP-CMC-8 hypr and card caps as well as my CA ST-11 card and omni caps in as well.  Keeps them all organized.

in a good hardware store I usually find the right box for almost everything. Otherwise tapperware imho is excellent, offering also a good protection against humidity.

When I had CA mics I kept them in a PSP(playstation portable) case that I got for $10 at walmart.
The top half has a half net I would keep my extender cable in. I lined the bottom half with foam and cut a hole in the middle.

I am not using it anymore if someone want it. It is covered with stickers and the foam and net are no longer attached. I put my busman mics in there before I got a new case.

I got one of these from Sound Professionals when I ordered my AT831 from them.  It was included without any additional cost.  I can fit my mics, clips, battery box and a little bit of cableing.  The have other sizes too.  The plastic case is really heavy duty.

ive got a small camera bag.  the back compartment fits my 9100 and the mics, the middle compartment fits my cheap-o recorder (archos jukebox recorder), and the front pocket holds the cable to go from the 9100 to the recorder.

and its small enough i can hang it from the mic stand with zero problems.

I use a Pelican 1010 case with some foam placed in the bottom of the case.  I have some pluck and pick foam, but haven't used it.  Crappy cell phone pic:
