Mic clips for CA cardiods?
« on: October 20, 2008, 04:53:35 AM »
hi

im hoping to get some mic clips for my church audio cards. i currently use the crokies but would like to have an alternative option.

are there any particular clips i can/should use for these?. also, when clipping mics to a shirt/jumper, is there a way to make sure they point forward as opposed to them flopping around (sorry if this seems like a stupid question).

thanks

Alex

I second what taylordb said. These are great clips and at a good price too. You don't want the kind that don't rotate-these are much easier to use.

These work great:

Are you securing the mics over the foam of the mic since the foam and the mic are one in the same for the CA-14's? I'd appreciate some pics.

I just had the loaner pair of CA-14's and these mics have a body of them that is entirely foam and then at the base they go to the cable.  For other mics, like AT's and MM's, the Shure clips attached on the plastic of the body.  That's not possible (or I don't think it is) with the CA-14's.  I think the only solution may be a clip that works to clip onto the cable so the foam body of the mic is not damaged.

When I used them, I used some paperclips for a collar mount and that worked good.

I didn't think he was referring to the CA-14's.  I thought he was referring to the standard CA-11 cards.

I don't know a UK source for the clips.

Sorry, those clips do work for the CA-11's, not the 14's.

If the OP indeed has the CA-11's (hasn't been clearly noted yet I don't believe), then disregard this post.

This was posted on a different (Church) thread earlier by someone else

The Sound Pro people ship overseas, don't they? Might be worth it to give them a call and inquire about their clips

Thanks for posting this but I'm cheap.  ;D
Has anyone made 'special' clips for their mics? I know there has to be some way to do it.
Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.

I just got a set of clips for my CA-14s for SP: AT-MINI-CLIP
AUDIO TECHNICA SINGLE MINI ROTATING CLIP FOR SP-CMC-8 AND AT943 MICROPHONE SERIES MICS
$10 each and they seem to work fine, although I haven't tried them in the field yet.

I had these Mako when I had the loaner pair of mics, but didn't think they'd work, so I never tried them with the CA-14's.

Get the Shure clips, by far the most versatile clip that size
