Manfrotto Nano Clamp 386B
« on: July 27, 2009, 10:12:51 PM »
Any experiences with these new clamps.  I love the superclamps but I hate carrying them around.  I am just wondering how much of a hit in flexibility one takes if they replace superclamps with nano clamps.  Maybe one of each?

Hey man, the nano's made for tubes between 13mm and 35mm in diameter, or surfaces from 3mm to 21mm.
Pretty much the same bomber functionality but smaller:

Also, a sort of duh difference: supers can sustain around 30lbs of load, the nanos clock in at around 8lbs. You trade versatility and load capability for clamp weight and size.

edit: added size, forgot.  :P

I have one and use it as a tripod replacement both for a camera and for mics. It is very practical (you can attach it almost everywhere, from tubes to table tops), functional (in a couple of seconds you are set) and built like a military tool.

Holy jebus they are tiny. Mine arrived today and it's just slightly bigger then the circular portion of the shure donuts. Actually the knob on the end gives it more visual presence cause the clamp itself is small.

Looks like a perfect solution for clamping to the top of a stand and running an extension bar.  A standard Rapid adapter would make it slick.

Never liked using a Super clamp up the high on the stand, when I needed to reach out to DFC with a bar.  Too much weight on the stand at 8 ft or higher.

Nice find Andy.  +T

don't forget the 3/8" or 1/4" screw adaptors... I always used the locking hex stud ends with the superclamp and realized as I order it that I'd need (different) adaptors for this.
