[...] In the mid 2000s it seems the nt1a was very desirable for nature recordings since I've read a lot of what Rob Danielson wrote, but now it seems MS and/or omni mics using the techniques in my other post here are now popular.
Are you planning on using the nt1a for nature recordings?
I want to make mono recordings of people (mostly one at the time) talking very quietly with big silences (mostly room) in between, for a documentary style film project. And I really would like to use omnis. The rest of the chain is USBPre2>S/PDIF>PMD661. Instead of the NT1a, NT2a etc microphones, I was also thinking of the AT4022 which the nature recordist seem to use a lot because of its low noise floor (lower than the official specs). And, I thought, because of its brother, the AT4021, which is well regarded by some for music recoding, th sound can't be that bad either. Unfortunately, where I am, I cannot try them out and send them back.
