first thing i did was open it up and found a samsung 40 gig drive in it. it's just suspended in there, with foam protecting it
i was afraid to take the ide connector off but it came off. i attached the new drive and spent about 10 min trying to put it back together. you have to line the bottom up so that little tabs click into place, then put the screws back in
formatting was automatic. it asked if i wanted to format, and gave me a bunch of "are you really sure you want to do this" messages. good stuff. can't do that by mistake
menu is very self explanatory i think. setting up time and basic recording settings (sample rate/bit depth) was very easy.
i recorded a few min of a 24/96 show through AES in (AES out from computer). worked like a charm. the transfer of the 100 megs happened in less than 30 seconds. fast firewire speed (firmware 1.15 came on it)
played fine.
