I don't want to put a dent in anyones thoughts here, but here is my opinion, and we all know what they say about opinions....well anyway.
I too was going to go the pelican case root until I read something bad about it... The problem comes in when you close the lids of the case. It places pressure on the capsule pushing it in or out depending on the enviorment. This constant pressure placed on the capsule is not good. It can stretch the capsule. Example, have you ever used a pelican case and had difficulty opening it until you opened the air valve and heard that slight hiss of the pressure equalizing. That same pressure is what is pushing against the capsule membrane, and when the pressure changes, it stretches the capsule in the other direction until the pressure equalizes. My thought is and what I read states all that pressure has to lead up to premature failure or change in sound of that capsule, meaning there is a change in the tension of the capsule. So I keep mine in the original cases they came in or use one that is not air tight so that the pressure inside the case can equalize to the pressure outside the case naturally and never slam/ quickly snap your cases closed, that instint rush of air against the capsule also isn't good. so take it for what its worth, its something to consider or it shows how truly nuts I am and anal about my gear. I have ( we all have ) invested to much in to our stuff and we all want to take the best care possible. Peace!
