Making me believe 12 volts is recommended,   And at Only 600 mA something like this should run it for 7+ hours.  No reason for anyone to carry lead anymore.

BE CAERFULL , THE OUTPUT MIGHT FRY YOUR RECORDER , THAT ONE GIVE 16.8 V AFTER CHARGING , I DONT SURE THE TASCAM CAN HANDLE IT !!!
might be good as 9v sours if tascam is still running on that external voltage ( looks to me it would but with warning about low voltage )

I have an email into Tascam but not expecting much...  request was for nominal voltage requirment..  9v or 12v mainly..

It will be interesting to see if they improved the pre's or just threw in the old DA-P1 pre.

For me I'm not concerned what the pre-amp sounds like because I have a m148 and a V2.I'm curious what the A/D conversion is like.

Nothing From Tascam yet... hopefully early next week.  If I do not hear by TUE I will push the inquiry to Oade and get their thoughts.  Since they have the thing apart and are working on stuff power issues are most likely on the list of things to confirm when altering the guts.

Just waned to post the run times I got with this set of 2250mAH Powerizer rechargables from batteryspace.com http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1530

Going line-in from the M148 using compact flash @ 24/48, with the headphone output off and backlight off, and naturally the phantom was off, I got just shy of 5 hours by about 2 minutes. This was on the second cycle of the batteries, I was recording the television with the gain cranked.

The power readings in the settings menu showed it pulling just over 11 volts via firewire, just over 10 volts via the batteries and just under 12 volts via AC.

One 12V SLA battery (think Eco-Charge style) with the proper input connector wiil charge up to 13.6vdc  and down to nothing. Do you think you could run the unit with this setup.  I'm inclined to say yes but...  say 12V/7ah and a battery tender jr.

I run the eco-charge EC-90 (B-906V 12 volt and 6 volt), and am currently just using it for my V3 (6v).  I'm guessing yes, but to confirm, would I be able to run the HD-P2 off of the 12v out at the same time?  Does anyone out there make a cable to do this yet?

should be fine, even 6v slas arent at 6v, they should be at about 7-7.5v fully charged

the same goes for 12v slas, theyre fully charged float around 13.5-14 v

so yes that should be fine

if your batts hit exactly 6v or 12v, guess what, they just died on you
