This thing showed up just as I was putting away my work, so I haven't had more than an hour with it. But I like it a lot already.
- Drive swap and formatting is super easy.
- I really dig the metering. It's the best metering I've ever had (though limited experience)
- One really needs to lock the front panel buttons after configuring. I've already bumped the input routing button twice causing it to route incorrectly. It's a good thing those auto lock during a recording session.
- I really like the discrete gain readings. No more guessing if the gain is matched across channels.
- There seems to be no way to erase files in the field? I didn't find that yet if it's there.
- head phone amp is really nice.
I've got just two issues so far:
1) I'm seeing something that looks buggy in the headphone monitoring menu.
It isn't scrolling the options as it does for the other menu items and it is not letting me select 1,2 as teh monitoring source.
When it scrolls, it scrolls only the last two lines and leaves the top line stuck at a value.
When I select the wave button (soft labeled as the check mark) it jumps to another option in the menu, not accepting the selection.
All the other menus seem to navigate as expected.
Scott, do you see this problem with yours? I don't want to start reporting bugs if this is pilot error.
2) Another thing I'm seeing that I do not understand is that when I feed an AES signal from the V3 to the 722, I can watch the LCD panel and it shows it relocking to the proper rate as I move through the rate selections on the V3. It does not indicate 16-bit when ANSR is selected.
Does this mean that for a 16-bit digital feed the 722 needs to be reconfiured to store 16-bit file format?
