I told you guys!!   I know it was a long wait, but it was worth it.   Have fun this weekend!!

Tim, I am going to be fishing in central oregon this weekend so if you have questions, call my cell and leave a message.  I will try to get back to you if I have a signal.

I think you will be fine tho, I handed off our 722 to our new employee Jeff last night for Derek Trucks next door and with no training, he ran the whole show no problem....  He was so jazzed this AM, he couldnt stop talking about it!

This is why didn't understand SD's decision to leave out the phantom in two of the four channels in the 744T. Oh well... How are you going to run the 4 mic mix?

I would think it has to do with size.  Sure, they could've of found a way to fit two more xlrs on there, but then they would have to remove something else - and in the eng world, this thing has about all you need.  Maybe there's a way to rewire the TA3 to give phantom on the 3rd pin...then run a TA3>XLR adapter...

ch3 and ch4 would still be line level inputs.  would there be enough gain?

It's missing the other two preamps also,  744 = 2 mics in + 2 lines in , no?

Yeah, I was being unrealistic - or "dreaming"  ;)

Surprisingly there is a good amount of space inside this box (the 744T and probably more in the 722).

a hitachi 80 gig 5400rpm travelstar 5k100.

although a big proponent of the view that speed and size are their own justifications, i'm curious what use you expect to put to the extra 40 gigs?

won't you typically transfer a show to your computer (and perhaps also backup to an external drive) before recording the next show?

FESTIVAL!!!! :)

I run a 80GB in the Deva and it's always nice to know that you have the space should you need to and not have to worry about xfer'ing to another device.

or 2-3 night runs of a band.

24/96 is 2 gigs an hour, but if you want to try out 24/192, it's 4 an hour. extra space could come in handy

you can choose what size to auto split on.  i have mine set at 2 gigs, though you can choose 4, 1, and even less i think

I can confirm that there are no missing samples across the files as well, based upon review of the Garaj Mahal show from Asheville on Saturday.   The two parts fit together just fine!

I just can't find the time to write my mind the way I want it to read.

Saw this unit last night....sweet machine...comparing it to a V3 is pretty much dead on size wise.  Good news is Tim got a 24 bit tape of the Bridge, now we just have to figure out how the hell to chop up and burn a 24 bit disc :P
